How much ground clearance will I lose with the Rocker Pod cargo steps?...

The bottom of the Rocker Pod cargo steps will be about 1 ½ - 3 inches lower than a typical set of 3” diameter Nerf bars. For example a 2006 GM/Chevy pickup will lose about 2” of clearance compared to the factory Nerf bars

My truck is NOT a 4x4 will I still be able to use the Rocker Pod cargo steps?...

The Rocker Pods will fit all truck 2WD or 4X4. The ground clearance on a 2WD truck will be affected in the same way as a 4X4, that said if your truck is a street truck only, there will be no ground clearance problems.

I live in an area that gets significant snow fall, as a result the roads department uses salt and chemical de-icer on the roads daily. Will the Rocker Pods handle this type of environment.?....

Yes the Rocker Pods are just as durable as your vehicle in this environment. Some preventative action should be taken with the Rocker Pods as with your vehicle in this environment. Once or twice a year use a good quality automotive wax on smooth gloss painted Rocker Pods (NO WAX IS REQUIRED ON FLAT SANDTEX PAINTED PODS). The polished aluminum diamond plate should be maintained as you would aluminum wheels (Wax and Polish at the beginning of spring and end of Fall). During the winter months rinse the salt from your truck and Rocker Pods at least once every two weeks preferably once a week. Avoid the use of soap during winter, as it will remove the protective wax faster. Use a good quality lock de-icer on the locks and don't forget to cycle the locks regularly during the winter (insert key and rotate a few times). This is all preventive maintenance that will ensure your Rocker Pods look great and function properly.

I am an avid offroading enthusiast will these Rocker Pods offer the same protection as Rock Slider or Rock Guards?......

Offroading is a subjective description depending on your perspective, I can appreciate that many people use their vehicles in many different environments and many different situations. The simple answer is NO the Rocker Pods are not designed to replace Rock Sliders or Rock Guards. They are designed to go on vehicles that travel on municipal roads and or dirt roads and occasionally go on “light to medium” trails. Definatly NOT for rock crawling. If you live in an area that requires you to travel on gravel or dirt roads on a daily basis. We would strongly recommend that you have the underside of the Rocker Pods Linex and or Rhino coated. We can Linex coat the Rocker Pods at a minimal charge before they are shipped to you, or you can have them coated at any Linex or Rhino shop locally. If you use your vehicle for offroading on a regular basis, we would recommend the installation of a skid plate. We offer a ¼ Linex coated skid plate that can be installed or purchased at any time.

You mention that the Rocker Pods have weather seals on all doors. Does this mean I can have them submerged for short periods of time?.....

Honestly I can say that the Rocker Pods are very impervious to water during normal driving conditions (rain, snow, car wash etc.) However they are NOT 100% air tight, this is done for a reason. As you can imagine on a hot day the air humidity may be very high, and at night the temperature drops, water will condense inside the Pods and make for a very damp environment if they were AIR TIGHT. This is also true of your vehicle itself. We actually would recommend that if your Rocker Pods are very full of supplies, the inclusion of moisture absorbing pouches is beneficial.

How much weight can I expect the Rocker Pods to carry including a person standing on them?.....

Depending on the number of mounting brackets used, the typical load will be 375 Lbs each. We have tested the pods to over 500 Lbs each on frame mounted applications such as the Hummer H3 with 2 frame mounted brackets

I have a dually pickup. Can I order the pods to go from the front wheel well to the rear wheel well?.....

The main reason we do NOT make the Rocker Pods go from wheel well to wheel well is that the twisting forces on the cab and bed of the truck are not equal. Basically depending on the loading of your bed, it will flex significantly from the cab. This is true for both dually trucks and regular rear axle trucks.

You mention that the Rocker Pods mount to the body mounts of the vehicle. Can you explain what this means?....

OK we weren't totally accurate in this description. The GM/Chevy line of pickups use body mount locations to secure Rocker Pods. This is the area where the vehicle body attaches to the frame. This was the first application to be fitted, and the term stayed. The Ford trucks use the existing body mounts located along the inside of the rocker panel (much different from the GM/Chevy “body mounts) Since the introduction of the Rocker Pods we have fitted them to many non pickup vehicles, for example the Nissan Extera uses frame mounted bracket as does the Hummer.
